We are so happy with the design that Kelly prepared for us! She created a landscape plan that will not only be earth-friendly, but it will provide an abundance of food for us and the pollinators native to this area. During her initial on-site visit, she listened for our wishes, big and small – from having an environmentally sound, water-saving front and back yard, to my wish to have a way to easily use the water from washing beans and produce. (Viola! The plan includes a trellis garden in front of our deck, from where I can rain down the kitchen water; plus, we now have extra veggie growing space.)
Kelly was great to work with. She kept cost in consideration and was able to give us various options. She was also prompt in her responses to our questions, as well as to any design adjustments we expressed. Without hesitation, we recommend Kelly for your permaculture landscape.

We moved from Oklahoma in late 2020 leaving behind a beautiful, abundant backyard and landed in a house here in Colorado Springs with nothing but purslane, sand and sadness. I spent the first year more or less ignoring the backyard because it just made me sad and angry. I was overwhelmed with how to build something beautiful, being a novice and having never put anything into the ground myself. Kelly has taught me so much over the last few months about native plants (which are thriving!!), building guilds to allow the plants to work together, ways to catch more water for efficiency, and has even gotten me into worm composting which has been such a fun side project. The Site Assessment she includes in a design package has a ton of helpful information specific to our yard (sun exposure, rainfall, soil composition) which, along with the Final Design have been incredibly helpful in working through each phase of planting and shaping the yard. She showed me how to break down the "building" process into manageable pieces so that I can do most of the work/learning myself without being overwhelmed. I am so grateful for the knowledge she has passed to me along the way. We spend every morning in the backyard now and I couldn't be happier! If you are thinking of hiring Kelly - DO IT. I highly recommend her services.

Kelly created a landscape design for our front and backyard. It was worth every penny!! We bought our house a year ago and the front and back yards were a wreck of sand and weeds. We shared with her our goals of having a low maintenance yet useful yard for the wild animals and for ourselves. She created a beautiful design with a complete plant list that allowed us to take as much time as we needed to finish the landscaping. It made it so much easier knowing which plants we needed to purchase instead of walking in to the nursery just picking plants at random. I know she saved us a ton of money because we had the plan and knew exactly what we need to purchase. I highly recommend Kelly Bull Permaculture to anyone looking for a landscape designer. Kelly knows what she is doing and loves what she does.

I hired Kelly to design landscaping for a barren yard around my newly-constructed home. I couldn't be more pleased with how she handled the project and am thrilled with the final result. I love that we met first not just so I could get to know her, but she could also assess whether we would be a good fit. Her focus on designing areas that served multiple purposes, using native plants with low maintenance requirements was exactly what I wanted. Her patience and professionalism dealing with my sometimes-wild ideas and explaining either how we could work them in, perhaps differently, or why we shouldn't do them was superb and likely saved me future years worth of headaches and increased costs. As someone who is doing most of the installation myself, I also appreciated her guidance on how to phase the landscaping and suggestion of nurseries and subcontractors I could use to help. In the end, I love my yard. I would absolutely use Kelly again and recommend her to anyone who needed landscaping design help.

Kelly was a pleasure to work with, I really enjoyed the process. I consider myself an experienced gardener however my new garden needs a lot of work & I'm new to this growing climate, so I was keen to have some professional advice. During the consultation process, I learned some new practices and Kelly listened to all my ideas, capturing them in the final design. The reports Kelly delivered will be a good reference for years to come and save me time and money by knowing which kind of plants to purchase and their best location. If you are considering engaging Kelly for your garden design I sincerely recommend her services.

Kelly was a wealth of knowledge! I had moved to CO from MN, where there is an abundance of moisture to grow just about anything, I knew that I would need to approach my gardening differently here. She came out to my house multiple times, she provided me with exceptional guidance and suggestions. Not only did she provide me with suggestions but also educated me on things like the importance of using compost, how to plant with trenches to catch the water, plant lists and so much more. I would highly recommend Kelly to anyone wanting to learn or for someone wanting a plan to create a beautiful low maintenance garden.

I began composting with worms almost 2 years ago. As a rookie, I needed some help and was lucky to have Kelly Bull consult several times, both in-person and remotely. She was always confident, encouraging and absolutely correct in her suggestions to restore production. Our plants, especially the prolific Meyer lemon tree, are the envy of our community. People think I’m a gardening genius!
